Bobuq Sayed is a non-binary writer, artist and agitator of the Afghan diaspora. They co-edit Archer Magazine, Australia’s leading queer publication of sex, gender and identity and attended VONA, the only cross-disciplinary week long writing camp for people of colour in the world held in Miami, Florida.
As an activist, their work has appeared in Overland, Kill Your Darlings, Archer, Vice and the sex ed zine, Trans sex. They co-curate the QTPOC performance night, Colour Tongues, and they are the guest curator of the QTPOC stage at Midsumma Festival’s Queer Horizons 2017.
As a writer, they have performed their work at the Emerging Writer’s Festival, Melbourne Writers Festival, Village Festival, Melbourne Fringe Festival and, most recently, at Alterity Collective’s Rituals. They are also a member of the performance collective, Embittered Swish, which had a sold-out season at the La Mama, Courthouse in 2016 and which has a month-long residency at Firstdraft Gallery in Sydney in February,2017.
