Showcasing and celebrating Performers of Colour within cabaret with regular events
Performance artist, gender anarchist drag, theater maker, actor
Krishna Istha is a live artist and performance maker. Interested in transformations and pop culture representation, their work takes the form of comedic political acts and alter egos that focus on themes of queer culture, gender politics and feminism. Their work more often than not turns into a physical and vocal endurance test. Pink Fringe (UK) once aptly described their work as “politicized pop culture parody at its finest”.
Named as ‘One to watch’ on the Rainbow List 2015 (the annual celebration of the 100 most influential LGBT+ people in the UK), Krishna has performed in various degrees at the National Theatre (London, UK), Shakespeare’s Globe (London, UK), Arcola Theatre (London, UK), Southbank Centre (London, UK), Chelsea Theatre (London, UK), Victoria and Albert Museum (London, UK), Brighton Dome (Brighton, UK), Latitude Festival (UK), Spill Festival of Live Art (UK), Abron Arts Centre (New York, USA), La MaMa (New York, USA), International Festival of Feminism and Public Space (Hamburg, Germany).
